Need in Deed Is Recruiting for 2017-18
The application process has opened for the 2017-2018 Need in Deed Teacher Network. Interested 3rd-8th grade teachers in Philadelphia’s traditional public and charter schools are encouraged to submit applications to join our network of teachers and embark on a meaningful and engaging year-long service learning project with their students.
We are looking for teachers who:
- share Need in Deed’s vision that each student has a capacity to learn;
- desire to incorporate student voice into their teaching practice;
- want to integrate the core curriculum with real-world contexts and a connection to Philadelphia; and
- have strong classroom management skills.
Accepted teachers will receive 35 hours of formal training during the course of the 2017-18 school year including a two-day summer institute and once-a-month workshops after school. Teachers will also receive one-on-one project support and coaching for the duration of the project.
Still not sure whether you should apply? Listen to a current Network member. “In my 17 years of teaching, Need in Deed is the only organization I’ve worked with that gives teachers the tools as well as the focus to help students find their voices through meaningful exploration and inspiring service.”
Application form and additional information can be found here. Need in Deed requires interviews with qualified applicants. Please contact Program Director Kyra Atterbury at with further questions.
We hope you will consider joining Need in Deed’s Network!
